Monster Gel CSF Slow is the newest Prosthetic Grade Alginate from our friends at Monster Makers. This product comes from their range of new warm water set, alginates that mix easily to very creamy consistencies by hand. The CSF in the name stands for crystalline silica free. The ideal water temperature for this product is 90° Fahrenheit or 32° Celsius. The slower 7-8 minute set time allows for efficient moulding of larger projects such as head and body casts. Please note that this alginate should not be mixed with cold water. They are formulated to work with warm to very warm water. Cold water mixes can result in very slow and weak setting batches.
Please be mindful of the amount of material needed as the alginate will not bond to itself once cured without special bonding agents. Monster Gel CSF Slow is an organic based product and is to be used only a temporary mould material. To avoid shrinkage and distortion in castings, it is best to make a positive cast immediately. Consider our Hydrostone, Ultracal 30 or White Hydrocal gypsums, or Casting Plaster. The most Wax, plasters and wax or oil based clays below 212°F or 100°C may be poured into alginate moulds. Moulds should be immediately discarded after use.
