Cromax Impression Alginate
Cromax Dental Alginate is a high-precision, ultra-fast setting alginate designed for creating detailed impressions. Its smooth consistency and excellent detail reproduction make it suitable for dental impressions, small life casting applications and other projects where a quick-setting impression material is required.
The dust-free powder wets quickly and mixes to a smooth consistency, capturing fine detail down to 200 microns. Cromax also offers excellent compatibility with gypsum and plaster casting materials, good dimensional stability and high compressive strength.
Colour-Changing Set Indicator
Cromax features a chromatic phase indicator that changes colour throughout the working and setting process. These colour changes provide a useful visual guide to the different working stages, helping you identify the available working time and when the alginate has set.
With an approximate setting time of just 2 minutes, Cromax is an extremely fast-setting alginate. We recommend having your subject, equipment and materials completely prepared before mixing begins.
Using Cromax Alginate for Life Casting
Due to its very fast setting time, Cromax is best suited to small, quick life casting projects where the alginate can be mixed and applied within a short working window.
Suitable applications include baby hands and feet, small paw prints and other similarly sized impressions.
Important Information for Larger Life Casts
Cromax is not recommended for larger or more complex life casting projects unless used by an experienced professional. Larger impressions require significantly more material, mixing and application time, leaving very little working time before Cromax begins to set.
For larger hands, limbs, faces or other substantial life casting projects, we recommend choosing a slower-setting alginate unless you are experienced with fast-setting impression materials.
