MR-150 Parting Agent
MR-150 is an aerosol parting agent made from petroleum jelly in a solvent blend. It is designed to assist with the de-moulding of silicone and urethane RTV moulds from porous master patterns such as wood, plaster, stone, concrete, and similar absorbent surfaces.
It is mainly used to separate silicone RTVs from pattern materials and from themselves, making it especially useful when producing multi-part silicone moulds where cured silicone sections need to release cleanly from each other.
Parting Agent vs Mould Release
Parting agents are used during the mould making process to separate mould rubber from the master pattern, or to prevent one section of a silicone mould from bonding to another.
Mould releases are generally used during the casting process to help release a finished cast part from a mould made from rubber, hard plastic, or metal.
